This is the first Aran Afghan that I made before beginning the process of designing. It has one large center panel and 2 smaller ones on each side. I’ve used a cable needle before but on a very limited basis. It was very slow going so I started wondering if it could be done without a needle. I did some research and found out that lots of people do cables without needles so I checked out some video’s and found them to be very scary, so I kept plugging along with the needle. By the time I got to the fifth panel I decided to take the plunge, took a big deep breath and VOILA….no problem. Not nearly as scary as it looks. Once I got going I actually found it easier and faster to do the cables without a needle.
